It’s really very simple to make your own lip gloss. The basic function of a lip gloss is to add shine to your lips. You can keep it simple or you can add extra ingredients to add a hint of color and flavor to your recipe.

Best containers for DIY lip gloss

Any small container will do to hold your recipe. I often reuse lip gloss pots when I purchase one from the store. You can also use small pots or tubes purchased from your local craft store.  You can apply the lip gloss with your finger or even a cotton swab.

Best base for homemade lip gloss

If you want to go a more natural route, look for lip gloss recipes that use beeswax instead of something like petroleum oil which is not as good for your lips.  If you add sugar as one of your ingredients, be aware that it can make your lips more chapped.

 Try substituting Stevia instead or simply use peppermint or spearmint as a natural flavoring. If you don’t mind unflavored lip gloss and lip balm, you can simply leave the flavoring out of the recipe for a natural gloss or balm.
