Do you still have the same skin care routine that you did when you were in high school? Are you still using the same types of products? The chances are that as you’ve aged, you have changed the skin care products and your skin care routine at least a few times. Learning how to care for aging skin can help bring back that youthful glow you had when you were younger. This is a sponsored post for L’Oréal Paris through Conde Nast.

How to Care for Aging Skin

As we age, our bodies change. Not only do you see a few more gray hairs but you probably also start noticing your skin is not as firm. You may see a few frown lines, wrinkles, or age spots here and there. Those bags under your eyes may seem a bit more noticeable. Aging skin is different, and it needs to be taken care of differently.

  • Cleanse your skin. You need to cleanse your skin in the morning and the evening. Cleaning your skin will remove oils, dead skin cells, pollen, and makeup.  Choose a product that is made specifically for your skin type and is not overly abrasive. Aging skin is often thinner and more fragile.
  • Exfoliate regularly.  Weekly or biweekly exfoliation will help eliminate dead skin cells. Choose an exfoliating product with small microbeads rather than large because it’s gentler on your skin.
  • Sunscreen. Always wear sunscreen on your face when you go out in the sun. Exposure to the sun on even a cloudy day can cause skin damage. Many moisturizers include SPF protection, so it’s easy to remember each day.

  • Moisturize. After cleansing your skin each morning and evening, apply a moisturizing cream. I use a day cream for morning use and a night cream for evening use. Day creams are lighter and work well under makeup. Night creams are a bit thicker and are meant to moisturize your skin overnight.
  • Remember your eyes. Because aging skin is thinner than when you were younger, the area around your eyes becomes even thinner and more fragile.  When skin is more fragile, the dark circles under your eyes will be more noticeable.

We all have different skin concerns as we age. What may be right for one woman may not be enough for another woman. A personalized consultation can help you determine what products are best for your aging skin concerns. I received a skin consultation and learned what products were best for my skin based on my answers.

I’ve been using the Revitalift™ Anti-Winkle + Firming Day Cream SPF 18, Revitalift™ Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Night Cream, and Revitalift™ Anti-Wrinkle + Firming Eye Cream for four weeks.  These products contain Stimuplex™ + Pro-Retinol A™ for smoother, firmer skin and the eye cream is made to visibly reduce dark circles. I love how gentle these products are on my skin and they have a light, pleasant scent that I really enjoyed.

I’ve definitely noticed an improvement in my skin since I began using these products.  I’m not sure if you can see the difference in the before and after photos above but I certainly can when I look in the mirror. I like knowing that they have been dermatologist tested and are non-comedogenic. That way, I know they won’t cause blocked pores when I use them. I definitely recommend that you get your free consultation and see which products are best for you. You have to make good decisions for yourself. You’re worth taking care of and I plan on investing in the best products I can find to take care of my skin.
