Walgreens has been negotiating with Express Scripts for a new contract to continue to be part of their pharmacy network. After some negotiating time, they have been unable to come to an agreement on a new contract. As of January 1, 2012, Walgreens Pharmacy will not longer be a part of the Express Scripts Program. This includes all Walgreens Pharmacies and Duane Reade Pharmacies in New York City.
Patience who previously went to Walgreens as part of the Express Scripts Program will be forced to drive further to find a participating pharmacy. Only patients with specific Express Scripts coverage will find themselves impacted by this change. Walgreens is offering a special discount on annual membership for its Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. For $10 a year, you can purchase a family membership that will cover everyone in your immediate family. That includes your spouse, all of your dependents that are aged twenty two and younger and even your pets! Individuals can join for only $5.
When you join, you will receive discount prices on your prescriptions along with savings on more than 8,000 brand names and all generic medications. You can also receive discounts on flu shots, pet prescriptions, nebulizers and diabetic supplies. You also get bonuses when you purchase Walgreens brand products and photofinishing services.
